I know what you’re thinking, school is back in session and that must mean that summer is officially over!

Allow me to give you a small glimmer of hope… Summer is still here! And though we may very well be entering its last days, you technically still have till September 23 till Fall officially begins.

So why not make the best of it? Here are 6 ways to enjoy the last days of summer:

  1. Soak up the sun and spend some time outdoors. I know the sun isn’t everyone’s best friend, but a little vitamin D can actually be good for you. Pick a good book and plop down on the beach, or at a park. You’ll be glad you did.
  2. Book a last minute weekend getaway. I’m sure that traveling is easier when the kids are out of school. But did you know that it’s also more expensive? Rates tend to go down a bit once the kiddos are back in session. I know it’s easy to let busyness get the best of us, but don’t let it! Weekends are meant for rest and relaxation not errands. Go ahead, seize the weekend and book a quick and easy vacation. Maybe you can even make it a road trip?
  3. Watch a sunrise/sunset and snap a few pics. What it is about pink and orange skies that make them so refreshing and breathtaking? Maybe the fact that no human will ever have the power and ability to replicate them? The sky is God’s perfect canvas, so pick a time and day to just admire God’s perfection and His wonderful creation.
  4. Make your favorite summer recipe. Think back to your childhood days… What did you love making? Did something come to mind? Whether it’s a homemade ice cream or your favorite smoothie. Replicate it and sit back and enjoy.  Growing up, my sister and I loved making a no-bake strawberry mousse pie. Maybe I’ll make it and share the recipe soon.
  5. Have lunch outdoors and take a walk. A good meal is always a good mood booster, pair it with a pretty day and a breezy walk outdoors and you’re set.
  6. Wear something bold! Whether its a citrus lime or a bold blue, wear something that pops. Bold colors, patterns and necklaces are perfect for the summer.

This weekend, the hubby and I got started on our list. We had an outdoor brunch and enjoyed a walk around our neighborhood. Oh and I kind of did #6, I wore an awesome bold statement necklace from our friends at Happiness Boutique. (PS: They offer free shipping world-wide!)

How will you seize the last days of summer?

PS: Did you know you could follow my blog with Bloglovin?

Rather than buying cheap trendy items, my goal this year is to invest in good-quality timeless pieces. So, while I was moping around sick and in bed last week, I decided to make little Wednesday wishlist…

I lost my voice for at least 5 days last week, I was sick with who-knows-what, because I never actually went to the doctor. Instead, I self-diagnosed myself with laryngitis. For a talker like me, losing your voice for 4 days felt like an eternity.

There was one day in specific that I couldn’t even get myself to whisper. Miguel, my sweet husband, was in the same room and couldn’t understand a word I said — therefore, I resorted to communicating via texts and emails. Not as fun as it sounds, I promise.

The thing I later realized was that although I didn’t have a voice, I technically could have been catching-up on blogging and chatting up a storm with you online. However, I couldn’t even get myself to do that, I seriously had no energy. My body ached, I had zero appetite and my throat was on fire. Womp womp, cue the world’s smallest violin.

Guess what I did do? I gladly browsed the web and created a wish list… Don’t worry, I didn’t buy anything. But a girl can dream… Technically we still have 5 days left of the Nordstrom sale, right?

Here’s my Wednesday wishlist:

  1. DVF Purdette Romper – Tell me this romper isn’t precious? It’s so girly and dainty. I love it.
  2. Tory Burch Brody Bucket Bag – Oh and this bag! I’ve been eying it for a while now. I was hoping it would go on sale. No luck, yet.
  3. Current Elliot Denim Dress – It’s so hard to find a denim dress that fits well. The price is right for this Current Elliot dress. But I’m a little scared of the fit. Meh!
  4. Mac by Marc Jacobs Luna Bag –  This grained leather bucket bag makes my heart skip a beat. The zip side pockets and gold hardware give it just the right touch of glam.
  5. Halogen Olson Flats – These cute Valentino-look-alikes were originally $89, but right now they are only $59 at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Hurry get ’em while they last, unfortunately my size sold out. :(
  6. Zara Flowing Waistcoat – I did say that I would try to not shop at Zara anymore, but can you blame me if I make one more purchase there? Or two? Or three?
  7. Adidas Superstar Originals – Last but not least, these classic kicks are back! Man, I so wish I would have kept the ones I owned back in middle school. They are still just as fly, and I want them!

What’s on your wishlist?

Move over, little black dress because this little white dress is here to stay!

A simple little white dress should be a staple piece in every girl’s closet. It is incredibly versatile and it’s a great way to amp up your summer style.

I personally own a few white dresses, but they are all very different.  This little white dress was a recent purchase from one of my many online finds. Again, I took a risk and it was well worth it. I guess you can say I’m a gifted online shopper. Ah, who knew I had such talent. ;)

As you already know, I’m a big fan of dresses. They’re light, breezy and easy! Plus, this dress can go from beach-time to brunch-ready with a simple change of shoes. I added a pop of color and a light denim jacket — giving this simple look a stylish pop of flair. (Oh, and yes after a long hunt…. I found the perfect light denim jacket, and it was only $34! Thanks Old Navy!)

The weekend comes to an end and a new week awaits. Feelings of stress, anxiety, perhaps even sadness start to arise, and we call it the Monday blues… But why is that a bad thing? Is it possible to change our perspective?

Today, I’m changing mine. I resolve to bask in Monday and all its glory, even it’s blues. ;)

I know what you’re thinking… ” Easy for you to say! Don’t you work from home?” Actually, I do and sometimes working from home is kind of boring. Yeah, I too have deadlines and a set of tasks to accomplish. But working from home takes a lot more discipline than you think, specially when you’re a chatterbox like me. I need to intentionally schedule some social interactions, I find that it actually helps stimulate my mind.

Anyway, today I am super excited to welcome Monday and even more, I am extremely pumped about what July has in store. Stay tuned and save the date for July 18! I’ll spill the beans soon. Promise!

Oh yeah, and did you notice the Flair upgrade? Take that Monday!

How are you beating the Monday blues?

Oh, the matching trend! I love that fact that it has gone from cool, to un-cool, and now back to cool!

This chic look is definitely summer’s must have, the matching sets trend. These coordinated pieces can be worn by all ages and can help you look vibrant and youthful — just in time for the summer.

Even within the trend itself, the options are endless. There is subtle prints, loud prints, high-cuts, low-cuts, crop tops, midi-skirt, shorts, to even high-fashion sets. Play with the options and find a style that is suitable for you.

I found this ensemble while browsing online. My husband likes to call it the “Greek princess-look.” ;) When I bought it, I wasn’t sure if it was even going to fit, or if I would be happy with the quality and material. But it was so affordable that I had to give it a try… To my surprise, yet another online purchase that I love!

The great thing about matching sets is that you can wear the pieces separately and have versatile options.

After realizing how much I shop at Zara, I decided to take a small break from malls and other large retailers. I wish I could tell you that I haven’t shopped all month, but that would be a lie.

However, what I can tell you is that I’ve found quite a few affordable online stores. Not on purpose, I just happen to stumble upon them while browsing the internet and working from home.

Actually, for those of you that didn’t know, I’m officially a full-time blogger!

It’s been about a month since I decided to step down from my job at Christ Journey. I have a few fun projects lined-up, can’t share them just yet – but soon enough I’ll spill the beans. Promise. Anyway, in the meantime I’m also doing a little freelance writing and brand consulting.

I’m not sure how I feel about the whole “working-from-home” part, just yet. I’m very much a social being, therefore, human-interaction is pivotal. ;)

But, on yucky cloudy days that prevent me from working out of a coffee shop, I find myself taking breaks and browsing the web — finding tons of affordable online stores. You know, do a little work, take a little break, browse. Yikes! What have I gotten myself into?

The good news, is that they are actually super affordable! Here are a some of my finds…

  1. 2020 Ave
  2. Dorothy Perkins
  3. She In
  4. Zaful
  5. Modilly
  6. Missguided
  7. Choies
  8. Oasap
  9. UrbanOg
  10. A’gaci

I must admit, I’ve always been a little hesitant to shop online. I’m a feel and try-on kind of shopper. A few days back, I took a chance on a few items, and so far so good. I’ll let you know what I think as the other pieces arrive. For now, here’s a look at my first order.

Last week, I did a little Spring cleaning… I browsed through my closet for a few hours trying to decide what I actually wear vs. what just sits there collecting dust, and taking up precious closet-space.  Though I normally find things like sorting, and cleaning quite therapeutic — after completing my purging process, I came to the sad realization that I’m a little too Zara obsessed. Womp, womp, womp!

I mean, it wasn’t a total surprise. Zara has always had a special place in my heart. In fact, if I truly confess, there have been countless times that I’ve wanted to shoot an outfit post, but I hold back because I’m dressed in Zara from head-to-toe.

“How boring, people are going to think I’m Zara obsessed,” I often tell my husband.

Well, I kind of am… (Can you blame me? Zara clothes fits so well!)

Anyway, there you have it, a head-to-toe Zara look…

In the meantime, I’ll try to expand my horizons and shop in different places, do you have any suggestions?

One of the reasons I love fashion is because it allows individuals to express their own unique style and personality. What begins as just a vision, slowly becomes a work of art you can wear. All you have to do is pair the right pieces together — because after all, it is all in the details.

As a fashion blogger, it’s no surprise that I find the process so fun. Searching for the right fit, style, and color — there’s a sense of gratification when it all comes together. Some may call it vanity or trivial, but I strongly believe that fashion has the ability to accentuate a person’s inner beauty and boost their self-esteem.

If you’ve been following my posts, you’ve probably noticed that I try not to spend a ton of money on clothes. For the most part, I shop at Zara (Actually, I shop way too much at Zara. I need to stop), Nordstrom Rack, even H&M and Forever 21. However, sometimes, I make exceptions and splurge on a few pieces. Don’t get me wrong, by splurge I mean a few hundreds. Not thousands!

Plus, I’m an avid believer that the right accessories can make, or break an outfit. Don’t you agree?

Lately, I’ve had an itch for a nice bag, or a good pair of shoes. So, instead of splurging I made a Mother’s Day gift guide with some very chic handbags and shoes ranging from $50-$500.

Think of them like the perfect finishing touch — because remember,  it is all in the details.

Be sure to click on the side arrows to see all my selections. Trust me, you’ll have one happy mom!

Attention, local (Miami) high school boys and girls…  Are you ready for the big day?  Prom is just around the corner and that means, it’s time to start planning your look and Rock the Runway for PROM! Are you up for it?

I have the privilege to be hosting an event this Thursday at Bloomingdales in The Falls, and you and your friends are invited to join me and do a little stride down the catwalk. Pick your favorite suit, or dress and show us your best strut. Judges will then vote and select a winner who will take home a free prom dress or men’s suit!

Not a big fan of the lime-light? Don’t worry… Bring your friends, enjoy the fun and let’s browse the store to find your perfect dress/suit. Who knows, I may even help you style the perfect look for the night. ;)

As if that’s not enough… Bloomingdales and I have partnered with The Glory House of Miami, a local non-profit organization devoted to healing & restoring the lives of women who have suffered abuse and exploitation of sex trafficking.

Unfortunately, this isn’t something that just happens in the movies, this is real life… Did you know that every 30 seconds someone becomes a victim of sex slavery? And in Miami alone, sexual exploitation victims generate over $235 million.

Think this kind of stuff isn’t really happening here? Think again, and see the video below…

But there is HOPE and you can help provide freedom and restoration… Just by shopping, let’s BE THE RESCUE and support the cause with 10% of the sale proceeds purchased during the event.

To make sure your purchase is designated, simply ask for an extra receipt and slip it in the box at the main entrance.

Hope to see you there!

Fashion Show and main event will be held at The Falls -Bloomingdales,  in the second floor from 6-9p. Desserts and refreshments will be provided.

DENIM DAYS

I am almost certain that you own at least two or more staple denim pieces in your wardrobe. Well, don’t put them away just yet, because the denim days are here to stay.

From high-profile glossies, to NYFW runways, the trend is still a favorite among many celebs and style-trendsetters.

So, whether you’re wearing the denim-on-denim trend (yes, it is in fact a trend), or you’re still rocking the classic jeans and a tee… The variety of washes, fabrics, silhouettes and finishes allow for endless opportunities.

It’s no wonder the trend continues to be a day-to-day staple through the years and is suitable for just about every shape, gender and size.

I’ve been in the hunt for a good denim jacket (that fits well) and a staple denim dress…

What are you looking for during this denim daze?

Here are a few finds for my denim days:
