FESTIVAL FLAIR

Plan on heading to the 2013 Ultra Music Festival, or to Winter Music Conference?

Not quite sure how to accessorize? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

One of the projects that we’ll be working on this year is to try to add an online shop to the blog. The online store will most likely be called FlairEnvy. Not only was FlairMiami too location specific, but my friend Nicole and I were thinking of teaming up and being business partners in this new endeavor. Well, as we were trying to think of names and playing with the letters N and V, we realized N+V=Envy! It’s definitely not rocket science, but it has a ring to it and we like it!!

Anyway, our store will sell hand-made/vintage/revamped one-of-a-kind items.  Check out some of our floral head bands and floral crowns available for sale today.

For more info and to place your orders email FlairNV@FlairMiami.com, just let us know which one you like and we’ll send it over in time for the weekend festivities.

FUN BUSYNESS

It’s been a while since our last post, please forgive us.

With the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, Social Media Week, South Beach Wine and Food Festival and now the Miami Film Festival (happening this weekend) there has definitely been tons to post about. But both Giselle and I have been swamped.

I personally have been busy in all aspects of life (good thing I don’t have kids to neglect yet) from friend’s showers, weddings, work, press events, and even personal things… It’s been a little crazy.

If I may fill you in on my personal life a bit, I got a promotion at work. Woo hoo! My official title is now Director of Connect Ministry. Wondering what that means? Me too ;)

Just kidding, I know what it means. I now oversee all adult connect points at Christ Journey Church, from guest services and hospitality, membership and baptism, events for men and women, to groups. Quite a handful… needless to say, I feel like God has definitely placed me where I need to be. Not too long ago I had been praying about my next “professional” move, and in specific I prayed for a “challenging position where I could grow and my gifts could be utilized.” Well God answered my prayers, but I never really thought I’d be working at church this long; nor that I was the “church employee” type. But it’s been a great overall experience, and I am definitely thankful.

Oh, did I mention Miguel (my husband) and I bought a house? We’re homeowners, yeay!!! (Thank you God for blessing us beyond what we could imagine.)

Anyway, all that to say… I was busy. But that doesn’t mean I’ll stop blogging. I promise to make this a priority, this is my creative outlet where I get to share with you my love for all things that begin with the letter F. ;) (Fashion, fitness, food and fun.)

So, thank you for reading and for joining me on this journey… And well, as you know, today is Fashion Friday… So here’s what Giselle and I wore to one of the Social Media Week events.

An all day event called for a comfy casual look. Hope you enjoy.

Is it Spring yet? Because it sure doesn’t feel like Winter around here…

And since I can’t really be wearing boots and scarves around Miami, I officially want it to be Spring. Oh and yes, I am definitely jealous of all the Miami bloggers that got to experience a blizzard in New York, while enjoying Fashion Week. :( Maybe next year I can plan some vacation time around Fashion Week, I miss NY. (Or maybe, just maybe, Miami will someday get a Fashion Week of our own. Other than Swim Week of course, one can only dream…)

Till then… I am ready to bring in some neutrals and pastels into my life! The nice thing about nude is that it is such a neutral color that it can be incorporated all year long. But I’m especially excited for Spring to arrive because this season, opposites attract!

This Spring trend will be known for intermixing blacks, whites, and nudes! Woo hoo! Three of my classic favorites.

And so in light of Fashion Friday, today I thought I’d begin a new Flair Miami trend known as… “Five Favorites.” Drum roll, please?

Here are today’s five favorite nude items currently on my wish list. What’s on yours?

Neutral Nudes

ASOS clutch / Topshop lipstick / OPI nailpolish / Kate Spade dress / Dolce Vita  flats

It’s always hard to predict whether the next Target high-fashion designer collaboration will be a hit or miss. But this upcoming Prabal Gurung for Target collab seems to be the talk of town.

And just in time for your Valentines Day outfit, Gurung’s designs are inspired by a woman’s journey through love. “One idea I kept coming back to was the idea of love; whether it’s having it, pining for it, losing it, wanting it…” commented Gurung.

The line which includes, handbags, shoes and jewelry, launches Feb. 10 and will be available at all Target stores and online till Mar. 23 (while supplies last.) Prices will range from $19.99 to $199.99 for apparel and $12.99 to $39.99 for shoes and accesories. But if you’ve got your eye on something, I suggest you pick a store and get there bright and early. As these flowery, vibrant, and fun pieces are sure to fly!

Not sure you’re up for the commotion? I don’t blame you. My advice is that you get online and shop from the comfort of your home, unless you’re like me and you actually enjoy trying things on and the rush of the shopping craze.

Want to see more? You can view the entire look book here and let us know which one is your favorite look.

No te culpo!

Have you heard? It’s January and that means the color of the year is in full effect…

PANTONE® 17-5641 Emerald,” a lively, radiant, lush green,” is the 2013 Color of the Year.

Last year, it seemed like everywhere you looked you saw a shade of reddish-orange, better known as Tangerine Tango. Did you ever stop and wonder why?

It’s definitely no coincidence. Every year, Pantone the leading authority in color industry, carefully studies and selects the color of choice for the year.

How do they arrive to this conclusion? Pantone thoughtfully and thoroughly observes color influences all across the world and across industries.  Whether it’s art, pop culture, sports, entertainment, fashion, film and even socio-economic conditions, Pantone takes note of the current color capturing the world’s attention and labels it the “Color of The Year.”  This decision then defines and influences product development all across the board.

Most often the color associated with the precious gemstone can be seen in nature and has been known to symbolize growth and harmony.

Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® commented, “…Emerald continues to sparkle and fascinate. Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation, which is so important in today’s complex world. This powerful and universally appealing tone translates easily to both fashion and home interiors.”

What do you think? Will you be incorporating this color in your wardrobe or home?

¿Has oído?

¿Te has preguntado por qué?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

After yet another fun-filled week at Art Basel, I’ve come to realize that fashion, like art, is what you make of it.

There are two options:

  1. You can choose to follow trends/play it safe and wear high-end name brands and call your self “in style or trendy.”
  2. Or, you can wear whatever your heart desires (name or no name, in style or not) and wear it with confidence and actually make a statement! That my friends, is what this post is all about, outside of the box fashion.

Oh, and I won’t be telling you who or what they’re wearing, but rather why…

So, here are some cool kids and some cool kicks…

Art Basel Outfit Posts

Meet Milcho, aka Veronica Milchonera. Milcho was not only an artist showcased at Scope, she’s also a talented director, producer, and now a local with flair.

Her outfit is inspired by originality and a different perspective. Much like her art work called Domingo Familiar, (the mannequin pictured on the left) which is meant to portray a lack of parental control in our society. As you take a look into the peep-hole you’ll see a family watching television and their TV reflects your face peeping through a booty. Hmm, needless to say, it was an interesting perspective…

Art Basel Outfit Posts1

This gentleman’s name is Hoke. I spotted Hoke browsing through some art and found his look to be very original.

When I asked him what inspired his look he said, “Comfort! I actually didn’t know what to wear and I got this out of my giveaway pile.”

Well, glad you kept it, Hoke, your confidence and accessories totally put together a look like no other.

Art Basel Outfit Posts2

Check out Wendi Hill’s kicks! Not only is Wendi totally rocking the wedged sneaker trend, but the color-blocking and brightness takes the trend to a whole new level. Wendi’s look is inspired by “being green,” in both aspects of the word, the color and the eco-friendliness.

Art Basel Outfit Posts3

Now, I know these aren’t considered “kicks”. And don’t worry, no one was actually walking in them… (Maybe because they’re not on sale.)

But how could I resist posting these crazy shoes? This unique work of art was created by a self-taught artist from San Francisco by the name of Scott Hove. M. S Hove’s Cakeland concept began in 2005, and this specific creation is called Self Objectification Strategy.

What inspired him? A desire to experiment with mixed media and “an obsession with the relationship between the beautiful and the brutal.”

Art Basel Outfit Posts4

Did someone say men can’t wear wedges?

Kazuki Takamatsu, an artist from Sendai, Japan wore wedges with absolutely no fear. He hardly spoke English, so it was quite a challenge to figure out what his inspiration was. But he gladly took a picture standing in front of his work… and from what I could gather, his affinity for black and white goes far beyond his paintings.

Art Basel Outfit Posts6

Last but not least, on my way out I ran into this very cool-looking couple. Their look was inspired by a vintage feel and a mix of colors and patters.

So you see, fashion is definitely a form of art. It takes not only talent but also bravery and confidence to wear what you want to wear and make it work! You don’t necessarily need tons of money, just creativity and a new perspective. So remember, wear what makes you happy and wear it well. ;)
