Filled with Latina glam, Miami is truly a place like no other…

As a visitor, one quickly learns that the Latin culture has a huge influence in our city. From Spanish billboards/signs, to different traditions, body-types, languages & foods; they all encompass the fun & vibrant life our city has to offer.

And we all know it isn’t easy to avoid the hair frizz & embrace the humidity in our day-to-day looks. Well, Glam Magazine featured some of our favorite Miami fashion bloggers (us included ;) ) with a street-style post in the 2014 Spring issue of Glam Belleza Latina.

They asked us to share our beauty secrets & focus on how we embrace Miami & our Latina roots. Here’s a peek:

Easter may be over soon… But pretty pastels are here to stay! Last year, florals were the it trend… But this year, nothing says girly & sweet like a good pop of pastel. Whether you’re into pinks, purples, mints or blues, you can wear these fun pastels from day-to-night to feel bright & cheery all Spring long.

So, how can you avoid looking like a cheesy Easter egg? Balance this classic lady-like style with some edgy metallic accessories & never wear more than two pastel colors in one outfit.

Pretty Pastels

This season also calls for precious metals & lustrous shine…You can pair a statement gold, silver or copper piece with classic denim, or any basic pieces: white tee, classic khakis, white/nude pumps, etc. For a bolder look, you can also wear a monochromatic look & rock one shade of modern metallic from head-to-toe.

Modern Metallics

What’s your favorite trend this season? And how will you be wearing it?

On a regular Sunday morning, most people would rather go to the beach, enjoy some family time, or even spend an extra few hours in bed instead of going to church… But for some reason, not on Easter Sunday.

Typically, Easter and Christmas are the highest attended times where the average “unchurched” and “irreligious” person attends church.  But why? What is it about Easter and Christmas that draws people to church? Is it a desire for something more? Is it Christians? Is it Jesus?

In fact, in one way or another haven’t you heard people say “I’m spiritual, but not really into religion.” Or, “I Like Jesus… but can’t stand Christians.” Have you ever felt this way?

I know I have! And chances are that someone or something claiming to be “Christian” has probably given you and others a reason to keep their distance from church. Perhaps a “hypocrite Christ-follower” tainted the idea of Jesus and even more from religion, especially with all the ” record of do’s and don’ts”. But deep inside, I hope you know Jesus is way more than what any human can ever reflect! (Because after all, we are all sinners.)

For this very reason, Christ Journey Church (my church) is launching a challenging three-week series that will help tackle some of the most common barriers that keep people away from “Christians and Christianity.”

We did our research, and here’s what we found:

So, what’s your take on Christians? Will you be attending an Easter service? Why or why not?

No matter who you are or what you believe in, you’re invited to join the conversation this Easter weekend.  Join live at our Miami locations or online at ChristJourney.tv, you can tune-in from anywhere around the world. Check it out and let me know what you think… Happy Easter!

♫ I’m a grooooown woman, I can do whatever I want. I’m a grooooown woman…

Though I can’t say I’ve grown in stature since my high school & college years, ;) I can say that I’ve learned quite a few life-lessons throughout. Therefore, I have grown after all. I’m a grooooown woman & I can do whatever I want. And I chose this… Because after all, wisdom does come with age.

Here are 10 sings you’re a grown woman/man:

    1. You search for a greater purpose and help others.
Life eventually stops evolving around you. Your realize that other people’s needs are also important & there are others who have way bigger than problems you do. You acknowledge that life is fleeting & choose to be a part of something bigger. So you learn to love God & love others & live well
    2. Family matters…
Yelling at your parents because they wouldn’t extend your curfew… Getting mad at mom because she wouldn’t give you privacy, & fighting with your siblings for the remote control… These things eventually become a thing of the past. Family is precious, they really did want the best for you (Okay, maybe not your entire family, but most…) & they still do! You make time for them & don’t miss an opportunity to show them you care!
    3. Friendships don’t just happen.
Seeing your friends in the hallways, catching up during lunch, & having hours to talk on the phone was a huge commodity. As you get older, you fall into the 9-5 routine and learn it’s no longer as easy to stay in touch. Eventually, you also learn to prioritize your time & make time for the friends that matter. True friendship lasts a lifetime & it’s okay to pick up right where you left-off, regardless of your age/stage.
    4. You stop searching for the “perfect” one.
You realize that no one is perfect & that love is an action verb. It takes time & effort. But you’re perfectly okay with the work that it entails — because in the end if you’re with the right person, it’s worth every minute!
    5. You fail forward!
Chances are that at some point in your life something or someone will probably fail you. Heck, even your own ideas don’t always work as they should. But you don’t beat yourself up over it, you get up and try again. You keep the innovation coming, but try to not repeat the same mistake. You just make new ones…
    6. You stop comparing.
You learn that you were fearfully and wonderfully made. Your days of constantly comparing are far behind you. You know YOUR gifts, talents and passions, and you grow them. You are a unique and beautiful being, and you’re okay with that!
    7. You are not anxious… You think of the future but live in the now.
Thinking of the future, saving for retirement, not getting into debt, and setting goals are all good things. But if they slowly become obsessions and you forget to cherish the small details of life, they become bad things. Now, you take time to smell the flowers, you treat yourself to a good meal and do it with the ones you love. You have no time to worry about tomorrow, you enjoy the present and plan wisely for a better tomorrow.
    8. Change is inevitable, and you like it that way.
People change, jobs change, you change, and you embrace it. Change is constant and it will remain. Whatever the change may be, you take a leap of faith and learn to just go with it.
    9. You are comfortable in your own skin.
Whether you like it or not, you’re stuck with yourself, and that is perfectly okay with you. You’ve learned to embrace your looks & your body! You think twice when eating fast food, drink lots of water, exercise regularly and dress to flatter your best feature.
    10. The sun is not your friend.
You moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! You spend a little extra cash on serums, SPF & moisturizers … Eventually, you even start seeing it as a good investment. There, I said it!

PS: A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to talk about this topic with Fusion’s Alicia Menendez, 99 Jamz’ Felisha Monet, and TTWN’s traffic reporter, Jennifer Riley in the AM Tonight edition of “That’s What She Said.” Check out the video below.

Are you a grown man or woman yet? How do you know? Join the convo…

OFF THE WALL

The weather is warm, the days are getting longer, and it is finally spring. This time of year calls for airy, light clothes, and a refreshing stop at a local ice cream shop. But not just any ice cream shop. I am talking about one of a kind, special to Miami deliciousness – Walls Old Fashion Ice Cream.

Walls Old Fashioned Ice Cream is a must-go for the fellow ice cream lover. On top of the fact that they are family owned, their ice cream and fudge is all home made. And let me also add that their rocky road flavor is one of my favorites in town!

On this delicious outing I thought I’d keep it airy by wearing a pair of palazzo pants from Forever 21 and a cropped top.  In case you weren’t aware, Forever 21 has a huge selection of palazzo pants and I’m dying to go back for my next find!

WYNWOOD LIFE

Not long ago, Wynwood Life was just a blog that celebrated life in the Wynwood neighborhood… But now, the site has organically evolved into a festival that’s poised to raise the bar on all things Miami –art, music, fashion and food!

Wynwood Life will take place in Miami’s hip Wynwood district on 6th Avenue, between 22nd and 24th Street and will run from April 25th-27th. The idea behind this festival stemmed from the need to highlight local artists, craftsmen and designers. Organizers are expecting over 20,000 people during this three-day event.

Top area vendors and artists, have signed up to be a part of it. Even musicians, local bands and DJ’s will be performing from two stages, including the top of this Trek6, boom box-painted building that overlooks I-95.

Think next-level Art Walk, offering local pop-up restaurants, bars, live music, art, and more. As far as fashion, throughout the day several vendors will showcase local designs modeled and styled by a few of your favorite bloggers. And yup, you guessed it your Flair Miami girls will be there to model and style a few looks.

This is an event you don’t want to miss, tickets start as low as $15 and can be purchased online at www.wynwoodlife.com. Use the promotion code FLAIRMIA at checkout and you’ll receive a 50% discount! Hope to see you there!

It’s time to talk fashion…Express fashion, and if you weren’t able to make it to the EXPRunway event this past Thursday, you’ve come to the right place! With the Raleigh Hotel’s pool transformed into a runway for the night, Flair Miami was able to enjoy fashion and fun all in one place…what more could a girl ask for?

But before I dive into the looks that caught my eye, let me start by saying I am very impressed with this years Spring/Summer Collection. And I will let you see why for yourself.

The line had a great mix of casual and cocktail.  One of my favorite trends this season is the the full-midi skirt, and Express had a few that hit the runway with a bang!

So, ladies (and gents) – here are my favorite styles from the Express 2014 Spring/Summer collection:

Meet Alina Villasante, founder and designer of Peace Love World, this oh so sweet & trendy Cuban is no stranger to fashion. In fact, many would call her Miami-based clothing company a growing sensation.

This past Tuesday, Alina and her team hosted a quaint brunch for a few Miami editors to preview her 2014 Summer & Fall designs — and the Flair Miami gals were there to chat with her and see the gorgeous collection.

How did PLW get started?
I started running a successful aviation business. I did that for a few years, but then I sold it to pursue my t-shirt idea. I wanted to create tees that make people smile, and really, I was just designing clothes that I wanted to wear — hoping other people would want to wear them too. I invested some money into it, and my girls helped me sell about $85,000 in just shirts. Our first store opened here in Miami in 2009 and its been growing since.

Tell us a little bit about the 2014 Spring & Summer line. We saw quite a few new pieces, even some vegan-leather/denim jackets?
Yes, I’m very excited to launch this collection. Since the brand itself  has already established a look and a feel that people recognize, we wanted to slowly add some more fashionable pieces and fabrics. You know, we didn’t want to change too quickly… Oh and I love the jean jacket and the dresses that can be worn from day to night.

Alina is a gem! And needless to say, she walks the talk. Her home screamed peace, love & happiness from throw pillows, to wall art, to her joyful personality…

The Summer collection was fun and vibrant. The staple light-weight tees and sweaters had statements like  I am HappySummer Love, Love Hippie, I am Eternal and my favorite, I love Sundays!

As for the 2014 Fall line, I cannot wait! The mix of fabrics is perfection.

I was instantly wooed by the beautiful white flowy dress and this uh-ma-zing pale pink vegan-leather jacket. <3

PETER_PILOTTO_TOP

I’ve been a fan of Target designer collaborations for quite a while now, and as you know, Peter Pilotto for Target was no exception.  As usual, I did most of my shopping online, though I think I may have gone a little overboard on this one… Let’s just say you may be seeing quite a mix of Pilotto pieces. ;)

Unfortunately, some items didn’t quite fit as I hoped, (I’m actually having to get a few things tailored)  though the crop top was a pleasant surprise. I believe it’s meant to be worn as a swim piece, but who says you have to follow rules? I paired this top with a mid-length pencil skirt to give it just the right amount of class with a hint of sass.

Did you buy anything? What was your favorite piece, and did it run true to size?
______________________
