TJ MAXX

It’s been way too long since I’ve sat in front of this computer and just blogged. Gosh, it feels like with just the blink of an eye days go by and time never ceases.

Well, today I go back to basics in my favorite chambray LOFT shirt.

Whether its work, busyness, events, or just routine in general… Life happens and every so often I have to remember to intentionally just stop, slow down and take it in. The last few months have been whirlwind, but they have totally been a blessing. Miguel and I finally moved into an apartment in Miami Beach and it has honestly been one of the best decisions we’ve made in a while. I can’t believe we didn’t live here sooner! He absolutely hated his 45 minute commute to the beach and now its a 5 minute drive! Woot woot!

Finally, now that we’re all settled in, its back to basics…

In every aspect of life. No more crazy-filled schedules, no more living out of unpacked boxes. It’s time to be self-disciplined. We’re back to taking our afternoon strolls, enjoying time with each other and doing things that helps us de-stress.

How do you go back to basics?

What helps you de-stress? For me, its blogging and working out.

PS: In order to make sure I am more consistent with blogging, I’ve started working with an up-and-coming local photographer who’s a dear friend, Ralf Then-Gea. You can check out more Then-Gea Photography here. Website coming soon… If you contact him, let him know I sent ya! ;) Happy Friday!

Does the flower give me power? ;)

I’ve come to realize that the way I dress not only affects my mood but it also affects the way I carry myself… If I’m wearing yoga pants, I tend to lounge, kick my feet up & take it easy. On the other hand, if I’m wearing a dress I act proper & poised. Do you find that it’s the same for you?

For the most part, I tend to be drawn to girly & classy things. You know, dresses, flowers, polka dots… But every so often, I venture out into the trendier side of things. But not today! Today, I keep it classy! I’m wearing my favorite Zara flower power dress.

I got this dress a while ago, but I guess I forgot about it because its first debut was to an editor preview. I love it, I think it’s the perfect flower power dress! If it could speak I think it would say, “I’m flowery & fun” ;)

I’ve worn this dress to run errands, brunches, & even work meetings.

What’s your go-to piece for a fun yet classic look?

FOR HIM: OLIBERTE

As I write today’s post, I can’t help but be grateful for all my readers. I know often times I tend to neglect my male audience, (especially with fashion posts) sorry fellas! But fear not, I know you’re out there. Miguel (my biggest fan, and husband, whom you’ll get to meet today) always reminds me of the fact that this is not a gender specific blog and that I have quite a few male followers. Therefore, in honor of all my loyal fellas, this fashion post is for you!

Allow me to introduce to you Oliberté! This manufacturing footwear company is located  in  the heart of Africa: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Perhaps, you’re wondering why I’m writing about shoes in Africa… In fact, we don’t normally hear about Africa unless it’s about something devastating. For the most part all we hear is about its poverty and/or corruption.

Young Canadian entrepreneur, Tal Dehliar said, “we never have and still don’t see an Africa that’s categorized by negative generalizations. Oliberté believes that with the right partners, each country within Africa has the means and power to grow and support its people. So that’s what we do.”

The brand partners with fair trade factories, suppliers, farmers and workers to produce premium footwear.

In doing so, they support a growing middle class and create thousands of fair trade jobs for both men and women. The shoes are made from natural rubber crepe soles, breathable hand-picked leather, reverse backing, and reinforcement stitching. I loved them, not only were they stylish but also very well crafted.

And it’s not just about charity. The company believes in their product, the people and the country! Want to help make a difference in Africa? You can shop at one of their locations or purchase a pair online.
