6 WAYS TO ENJOY THE LAST DAYS OF SUMMER

I know what you’re thinking, school is back in session and that must mean that summer is officially over!

Allow me to give you a small glimmer of hope… Summer is still here! And though we may very well be entering its last days, you technically still have till September 23 till Fall officially begins.

So why not make the best of it? Here are 6 ways to enjoy the last days of summer:

  1. Soak up the sun and spend some time outdoors. I know the sun isn’t everyone’s best friend, but a little vitamin D can actually be good for you. Pick a good book and plop down on the beach, or at a park. You’ll be glad you did.
  2. Book a last minute weekend getaway. I’m sure that traveling is easier when the kids are out of school. But did you know that it’s also more expensive? Rates tend to go down a bit once the kiddos are back in session. I know it’s easy to let busyness get the best of us, but don’t let it! Weekends are meant for rest and relaxation not errands. Go ahead, seize the weekend and book a quick and easy vacation. Maybe you can even make it a road trip?
  3. Watch a sunrise/sunset and snap a few pics. What it is about pink and orange skies that make them so refreshing and breathtaking? Maybe the fact that no human will ever have the power and ability to replicate them? The sky is God’s perfect canvas, so pick a time and day to just admire God’s perfection and His wonderful creation.
  4. Make your favorite summer recipe. Think back to your childhood days… What did you love making? Did something come to mind? Whether it’s a homemade ice cream or your favorite smoothie. Replicate it and sit back and enjoy.  Growing up, my sister and I loved making a no-bake strawberry mousse pie. Maybe I’ll make it and share the recipe soon.
  5. Have lunch outdoors and take a walk. A good meal is always a good mood booster, pair it with a pretty day and a breezy walk outdoors and you’re set.
  6. Wear something bold! Whether its a citrus lime or a bold blue, wear something that pops. Bold colors, patterns and necklaces are perfect for the summer.

This weekend, the hubby and I got started on our list. We had an outdoor brunch and enjoyed a walk around our neighborhood. Oh and I kind of did #6, I wore an awesome bold statement necklace from our friends at Happiness Boutique. (PS: They offer free shipping world-wide!)

SWEET SUMMER OUTFIT IDEA

The days are longer, the sun shines brighter… Oh, sweet summer days!

Sun stands still, beaches are filled… Time to escape the weekday craze.

Sun-kissed skin, drops of rain, humid outdoors… Still all the same.  Oh, how I love my sweet summer days.

If the sun could speak what would it say? If you could hear a tune from a simple breeze what song would it play? Oh gloomy rain, please refrain so I can play in my sweet summer days.

MONOCHROMATIC SUMMER WHITES

In the midst of all the print craze… Today, I decided I needed a visual break from colors, patterns and all things bright! Therefore, I decided to pull out the classic monochromatic summer whites!

Yes, yes, I know it may seem too “matchy-matchy” to wear the same color, but this monochromatic style is almost an effortless way to look stylish this summer. While the trend of wearing one color is easy on the eyes, it actually isn’t as easy to pull off. For starters, piecing a top/bottom and finding the exact shade of a color can be quite a challenge. Even for white!

So, here are a few tips that can help you as you try this monoch summer whites or any other monochromatic trend:

  • Find a suitable color for your skin tone and body type
  • When using bright colors mixing hues is appropriate and even fun
  • Blending fabrics and textures can add interest to your look
    (I did it with today’s look and it helped with color matching)
  • Denim on denim is perfectly permissible

Basically, when it comes to creating a monochromatic look, your possibilities are endless. So have fun with it and be brave! Happy Monday!

Con toda la locura de colores fuertes y diseños floreados … Hoy decidí que necesitaba un descanso visual! Por lo tanto, decidí sacar el clásico look de blanco sobre blanco!Sí, sí, ya sé que puede parecer demasiado “matchy–matchy” que use el mismo color, pero este estilo monocromático es casi una forma fácil de lucir de moda este verano. Mientras que la moda de usar solamente un color es fácil en los ojos, en realidad no es tan fácil de lograr. Por ejemplo, buscando una blusa y encontrar el tono exacto de la falda o pantalon puede ser todo un reto. Hasta para el blanco!Pues, aquí tienes algunos consejos que pueden ayudarte en tus esfuerzos:

  • Busca un color adecuado para tu tono de piel y tipo de cuerpo
  • Cuando uses colores brillantes mezcla tonos – no es solamente apropiado, pero tambien divertido
  • No tengas miedo de mezclar los tejidos y texturas pueden añadir interés a tu estilo
    (Lo hice con el look de hoy y me ayudó con la combinar el color)
  • Denim con denim es perfectamente admisible
