Happy 4th of July, Miami friends. Hope you have fun day planed with the family, if not I can help plan your day with some fun 4th of July festivities.

Today, I’m thankful for Independence Day celebrations and federal holidays! Woo hoo!! Now it’s time to enjoy the day with friends, family, BBQ’s and fireworks. But wait, what if you’re like me and you still don’t have a clue of what to do…

Well, here are a few 4th of July Miami festivities:

America’s Birthday Bash at Bayfront Park

WHAT: Expect food, beverages, and one of the best fireworks in South Florida!  Visit the free Kid’s Zone and enjoy live music, lawn games, giveaways, and more!
WHEN:The Park is open all day – Samuel Adams Beer Garden: 2:00pm-9:00pm – Free Kids’ Zone: 3:00pm-7:00pm – Fireworks: 9:00pm
WHERE: Bayfront Park, 301 N. Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL 33132

Key Biscayne Parade

WHAT: The 55th Annual Key Biscayne 4th of July Parade – A 4th of July parade for the whole family!
WHEN: 11am – The fireworks start at 9pm. You can watch the fireworks from the Village Green, or anywhere with a view of the Atlantic ocean.
WHERE: Crandon Blvd.

Miami Beach Fire on the Fourth

WHAT: Catch waterfront fireworks from 73rd and Collins Avenue. Exepect family-friendly activities and a free concert.
WHEN: All day – Fireworks will commence after sundown.
WHERE: North Shore Park – 7rd & Collins St, Miami Beach, FL 33141

4th of July @ The Grove

WHAT: Spend your Independence Day with interactive family-friendly festivities all around Coconut Grove and end the holiday celebration with spectacular fireworks displays!
WHEN: Festivities at the park begin at 5pm and the fireworks will begin at 9pm
WHERE: Peacock Park – 2820 McFarlane Rd, Miami, FL 33133

Old-Fashioned Picnic

WHAT:  A family-friendly picnic – Bring your food or buy it there! Expect a fun day with a DJ, crafts, traditional lawn & table games,
WHEN: 11am – 4pm

Biltmore – July 4th Fireworks Celebration

WHAT: Bring the family and enjoy colorful fireworks over Coral Gables skies. The celebration will include a special concert by the Greater Miami Symphonic Band, concessions, patriotic mascots, and a spectacular fireworks display.
WHEN: 5pm

Kiss Country @ Jungle Island

WHAT: Break out your boots and strap on some spurs for a 99.9 Kiss Country Music Festival in Jungle Island! Activities include line-dancing, mechanical bull rides, all-American BBQ & city fireworks! Special performances by Casey James & Craig Campbell.
WHEN: The music festival is from 2-9pm

IndepenDANCE Beach Bash

Happy October Flair readers! Not sure how to kick off your weekend?

In case you didn’t know, this month is Miami Attractions Month!  During the entire month of October many popular Miami attractions will be offering a buy one admission, get one  free. So whether you’re a local or just in town for a couple of days, this is your chance to explore some of Miami’s most well known spots and the same time save a few bucks. ;)

I’ve lived in Miami all of my life, and almost half of the places featured on this year’s attraction list I have yet to visit! So what better time than now? Better late than never, right? With that being said, there are quite a few options to choose from.  As a matter of fact, you could visit a new place every weekend this month! So what do you say?  Here are a few of the ones that caught my eye:

  • Deering Estate At Cutler
    • Enjoy canoe tours, butterfly walks, and guided nature hikes on the 444-acre environmental, archeological, and historical preserve.

  • Dolphin Harbor At Miami Seaquarium 
    • This is perfect for families! Have an unforgettable experience with a dolphin as you’ll get to interact with them and try out some of the expert’s training signals!
    • Location: 4400 Rickenbacker Cswy. Miami, FL 33149
  • Jungle Island 
    • Another family friendly attraction, Jungle Island is a great place to go if you want to explore wildlife! From ligers and orangutans to kangaroos and penguins, you will definitely have an unforgettable experience!
    • Location: 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail Miami, FL 33132
  • Schnebly’s Redland Winery
    • Enjoy an entertaining evening with a glass of Schnebly’s wine! Located in the heart of the Redlands, this is a great attraction to enjoy with a loved one, friends, or family!
    • Location: 30205 SW 217 Ave. Homestead, FL 33030

The Haunted Jaunt
WHAT: The first annual Haunted Jaunt hosted by The Ponce Society of Young Professionals.  A Halloween-themed haunted house/street party for adults 21+ benefitting the Coral Gables Community Foundation.  The “Jaunt” will feature a walk-through street fair experience in which each sponsor will have its own “haunted house” on the streets of Coral Gables.  Also expect to enjoy costume contests, food and drinks, and vintage horror movies.  Tickets are $20 and are available here.  Costumes are encouraged!

Tropical Storm Isaac is long gone, and just in time to let us enjoy our Labor Day weekend!

So, whether you want some fun in the sun, or you just want to sit back and enjoy a drink with friends, here are a few options to kick-off your weekend festivities. All under $20 or free.

OUTDOOR DAYTIME EVENTS :

Miami Critical Mass
WHAT: The last Saturday of every month local bicyclists head to the streets to ride bike and enjoy Miami in a Critical Mass Ride. Participants must keep a 12 m.p.h pace and stay close to the group. The group is often over 100 individuals, so be prepared to meet new people and ride anywhere from 12 – 18 miles. Bring your bike and bring a friend.
WHEN: 08/31/12 – Meets at 6:30 p.m. and departs at 7:15 p.m.
WHERE: Downtown Miami – Government Center

The 2010 Great Grove Bed Race
WHAT: A bed race where individuals carry beds down a 1/8th mile street in Coconut Grove. Teams consist of four bed pushers/runners and one in-bed rider, all contestants will race against the clock until teams reach the finish line. Prizes are awarded for creativity, decorations, and race results.

“Nabor Day” Weekend at Jungle Island
